Washington Arch at the beginning of 5th Ave and Washington Square North was inspired by Roman triumphal arches. Arch structure was erected in 1889 to celebrate the centennial of George Washington's inauguration. Washington Square Arch, recently renovated is a favorite spot of NYU student, tourist and photographers to hangout and capture this famous landmark.
