The Brooklyn Bridge is another one of those world recognizable landmarks. The first bridge to connect to Manhattan, it came before everyone alive today, making it a symbol much like the Tower of Pisa or even the Great Pyramids.

On the background of one of the most contemporary cities of the world, Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge seems like it emerges from the past to connect with modern life.

The Brooklyn Bridge's intricate, spanning framework appears from a distance as if created by a meticulous spider. Instead of spiders however, hundreds of men and years of effort and planning constructed the Brooklyn Bridge.

The history of the Brooklyn Bridge goes back to 1866, when NY legislators decided that a bridge connecting Brooklyn to Manhattan Island would become necessary.

The next year the New York Brooklyn Bridge company was formed, headed by John Roebling, an engineer. Unfortunately, Roebling died less then two years later from an accident involving his foot. His son took over the project.

By 1875 the caissons (underwater structures used for building the foundations) were complete. The iconic towers followed, with a metal framework connecting them. By 1883 the road was done and ready to use.

Thousands of photographers, artists and filmmakers captured this amazing, one of a kind bridge in a 150 following it's completion. The Brooklyn Bridge is especially beautiful in the winter after the snowfall.

We have been able to capture the bridge covered with snow-and with no people! Photographs were taken early in the morning while everybody else were slipping.
