NYC Landmarks/Tribute to World Trade Center
World Trade Center is probably one of the names everybody in the world knows and will remember. Many web sites have all historical, architectural and visual information about these buildings used to represent financial leadership and power of America. Twin towers were viciously destroyed by Terrorists on September 11 2001 along with almost 3,000 lives. This event affected all of us and the rest of the world for years to come.
I am not going to repeat the information of the official sites. I just want to share my own experience and explain why we have Tribute to World Trade Center - a very special department in our Christmas Store.
We are New Yorkers, we live and work in this incredible city and the World Trade Center's tragedy affected us more than anybody else. We lived through it! |

Before we started our New York Photo Gifts business I used to work as a web developer. In 1999 I was looking for an IT job in Manhattan. After submitting my resume on-line I've got invitations from several agencies for an interview. One of them came from the company filling job openings for businesses located in the Twin Towers. I came for an interview and they promised to let me know when the position I was looking for will become available. Couple of weeks later I accepted a very nice offer from IT Company in Midtown Manhattan. In about a month, the job position in WTC became available. However it was a little bit too late for me. But still it was exciting! Just a thought that I could be working at this place was like a dream come true. Who knew that in less than two years it could become the worst nightmare for my loved ones and me? |
I was at work on this tragic day and we all were watching, in horror, CNN's live feed from Downtown.
Everything was happening so fast and was beyond our understanding. The mother of my coworker called him from the upper floor of the Second Tower 5 minutes before the plane flew into that building. That was the last time he heard from her.
I was really fortunate, because nobody I personally knew died that day. But my heart is going out to everybody affected by this horrific event.
At this time of sorrow, we, New Yorkers, came together to cope and help each other to overcome this unthinkable tragedy. |

| The Liberty Deli on Liberty Street became a shelter and supply station for the recovery efforts for months after the events of 9/11 on the south side of the WTC site. Today, it stands as a place of remembrance and education as the Tribute WTC Visitor Center. Created by the September 11th Families Association, a non-profit 501c3 organization, the Center shares a unique personal perspective of the events from the 9/11 community - family members who lost a loved one, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, police, firefighters, recovery workers and disaster volunteers. The museum shares intimate moments through video, quotes, images and artifacts of the loss and recovery. The Tribute Center is a place of inspiration where those who endured a terrible loss have joined together and risen to share history with visitors from around the world. A true testament to the American spirit! New York Poster is proud to be a partner with the Tribute Center providing many of the customized items in the Tribute gift shop. |

Couple of years ago a buyer from the Gift Shop contacted us in regards to developing a line of memorabilia gifts featuring WTC and Memorial Lights photos from our collection. We were honored to participate and now you can buy magnets, cards, prints and more in their store.
For the 2009 Holiday Season we designed a very special Greeting Card and new Ornament with pictures of the WTC to couple with an existing one "Brooklyn Bridge & WTC Memorial Lights".
All sales profit from this line in our on-line store will be donated to Tribute WTC Organization by Christmas. |
